The Jackson County Health Department is seeking to fill a clerical position. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of clerical duties in support of the health department programs, with a primary focus on WIC registration. Responsibilities include accurate data entry and maintenance of detailed filing and record systems, measuring and recording height, weight and hemoglobin levels for WIC clients, front desk coverage and general customer service, and conducting client interviews with strong communication skills. The candidate must demonstrate excellent computer skills, strong reading comprehension, and attention to detail.

Additional duties may be assigned in support of management and staff. A positive attitude, reliability, and a commitment to high-quality service are essential.

As Administrative Support within the Jackson County Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Healthyou will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities

  • Completes tasks and assignments associated with administrative support functions (ie, licensure, personnel, purchasing, records management, inventory, or similar function)
  • Provides clerical support such as incidental typing, filing, ordering supplies, and sorting mail
  • Provides clerical support within assigned functional areas (ie processing/transactions, review of applications, scheduling training, scheduling facilities maintenance, reconciling financial records, assessing/collecting fees for a program, generating rep
  • Provides general clerical support to an office to include such tasks as data entry/maintenance, copying/distributing documents, and materials, maintaining recordkeeping and filing systems, etc
  • Provides secretarial and administrative support to an upper-level manager
  • Uses independent judgment and initiative to perform administrative, clerical, and secretarial duties in support of an individual employee or group of employees

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of general office or administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Medical experience and bilingual skills preferred.

Annual salary $33,200 plus generous benefits include 13 paid holidays, annual and sick leave, health insurance, and retirement plans.
