The Northeast Health District is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Deputy Public Health Administrator. This key leadership role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the health and well-being of the community while advancing your career in public health administration. With a strong accounting background, the ideal candidate will support the management of a broad range of county and district public health programs.

As a Deputy Public Health Administrator, you will assist the Administrator in overseeing essential operations in accounting, human resources, and facilities, ensuring the efficient and effective management of resources to support public health initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

•Oversee the accounting functions, including budgeting, financial reporting, and financial planning.

•Oversee the human resource operations, including recruitment, employee relations, and benefits administration.

•Provide advice and guidance to clinic and program leaders on accounting and human resource matters.

•Administer and monitor governmental funding programs, ensuring compliance with regulations and accurate reporting.

•Prepare and present budgets to Boards of Health for annual funding.

•Ensure effective facilities management to maintain a safe and functional work environment, including coordination with county government partners.

•Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.

•Collaborate with executive leadership to support strategic planning and decision-making.

•Supervise a team of professionals and provide leadership and guidance to foster a positive work environment.

•Contribute to grant writing and reporting, ensuring alignment with financial planning and program outcomes.

•Assist in strategic planning, particularly in financial sustainability for public health programs.

Eligibility for Advancement: 

This position is designed with a clear path for career growth. Upon the anticipated retirement of the current Public Health Administrator in early 2026, the Deputy Public Health Administrator will be eligible to apply for the role of Public Health Administrator and continue to lead the department in its mission to promote and protect the health of the community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and five (5) years of professional accounting job-related experience, which includes three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory role; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Mgr 2, Accounting (FIM011) or equivalent position.
  • Strong background in accounting, with experience managing budgets, financial statements, and reporting.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Public Administration
  • Experience in grant management and public health funding.
  • Experience with governmental funds and familiarity with relevant regulations preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing human resources and facilities operations.
