The Specialty Care Clinic located in Athens is seeking a medical assistant. The medical assistant responsibilities will include but are not limited to calling and greeting clinic patients, reviewing patient medical history and information, entering data, and assuring correct paperwork is present. Collect blood or other laboratory specimens as directed by nursing staff, prepare and log specimens. Requires good customer service and computer skills. Phlebotomy/lab draw experience is a must.

As a Medical Assistant within the Specialty Care Clinic at the Georgia Department of Public Healthyou will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities

  • Calling and greeting clinic patients, reviewing patient medical history and informaton, and assuring correct paperwork is present.
  • Assist nursing staff with pre-workup, obtain and measure height, weight, blood pressure.
  • Collect blood or other laboratory specimens as directed by nursing staff, prepare and log specimens.

  • Other duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to collect fees for service, answer phones, obtain confidential information from patients.
  • Check-out patients, assist with referral processing and arrange laboratory services.

Minimum Qualifications

Vocational/Technical degree in medical assisting from an accredited college AND One year of related experience
OR
High School diploma/GED and Two years of experience in medical assisting.

Annual salary $39,000 plus generous benefits including 13 paid holidays, annual and sick leave, health insurance, and retirement plans.
