The Northeast Health District’s HIV Prevention program is seeking a qualified person to provide community HIV education, counseling, testing, and linkage to care. The specialist will conduct targeted education and outreach to high-risk people. Testing and referral to care for priority populations and their sexual partners regardless of race and gender will also be emphasized. The specialist will ensure linkage to care for all those diagnosed with HIV utilizing the Anti-Retroviral Treatment and Access to Services (ARTAS) intervention. This is a full-time position that will require frequent travel within the district, and weekend and after-hours duties as well.
As a Minority Aids Initiative Linkage Coordinator within the Northeast Health District at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge of HIV/AIDS statistics for county, state, and nationwide
- Maintain knowledge of PrEP, nPEP, and other HIV prevention measures.
- Be able to answer general questions about PrEP for both agency staff and for clients, attend community events to promote PrEP, and assist with PrEP marketing strategies.
- Conducts HIV Counseling (CTL) sessions in a non-judgmental manner and with fidelity to the core elements and core components of the HIV Prevention Counseling standards.
- Complete data entry for high-risk clients and community events in secure databases.
- Links HIV-positive individuals to care and re-engages HIV-positive individuals back into care.
- Collaborates with HIV Coordinators, surveillance, and quality management to identify patients who are lost-to-care and are unable to be brought back into care by the clinic staff.
- Utilizes protocol for identifying patients who are lost-to-care and re-engaging them back into care.
- Plans and coordinates delivery of intervention activities, community testing events, and condom distribution.
- Network with other agencies, non-profits, and community members to promote HIV prevention services throughout the district.
- Prepares and submits monthly service reports and quarterly narratives.
- Meets with multi-disciplinary team on a scheduled basis.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s in Public Health education from an accredited college or university
OR
Bachelor’s degree in education, social, behavioral or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college
Annual salary $42,000 plus generous benefits include 13 paid holidays, annual and sick leave, health insurance, and retirement plans.
